Result 2005

In local elections we get around 16% of the vote in the wards in which we stand.

In the European election we get around 20% in this area.

However things have not been so good for us in Westminster Elections.

In the 2005 Westminster election the result was:

Tory

51%

Labour

23%

LibDem

18%

UKIP

4%

Other

4%

Since 2005 the Labour party has taken a battering and will NOT get above 23% in the next general election. Labour will never win this seat.

LibDem policy is contradictory and cannot withstand attack. I attacked them in Englefield Green West and their vote halved. They want "power to the people", but openly and enthusiastically want to transfer all power to Brussels. That is rubbish. They will never win here. We shall attack them hard. Their vote is unlikely to increase above 18% in the next general election.

Despite appearances this seat is a straight fight between Tory and UKIP. Naturally a 4% result is not a good place for us to start our campaign. But remember those figures of 16% and 20% in other elections.

Our method is to get a full slate of candidates for the local elections, put out a quarterly newspaper for delivery to voters, and improve our campaigning techniques.

Forecast 2009

I would like to think that UKIP would win the election but that would require the biggest swing in history.

I personally believe that the Tory party will win the 2009 general election and form the next government.

Tory voters will be jubilant when the Tory party wins. But their jubilation will not last long.

Tory voters will discover to their horror that the Tories will NOT take us out of the EU. Tory voters will then turn to UKIP.

In the interests of the country, we need to speed the process up. Let us go straight to UKIP NOW!

The Tory Party is NOT the answer

UKIP has a vision for the country.

The Tory grass roots have the same vision. But the Tory party no longer represents its members. The Tory party is a great disappointment.

The Tory party is no longer able to conserve anything. The Tories cannot conserve our:

  • democracy
  • freedoms
  • fishing
  • countryside
  • green belt
  • agriculture
  • health service
  • post office
  • policing
  • borders

for the very simple reason that all these things are controlled by Brussels. (If the new treaty comes into force we shall also lose control of our army, foreign policy and just about everything.)

The Tories cannot resist ID cards, car tracking, Galileo satellite system (a military system in partnership with China), fingerprinting, loss of habeas corpus, loss of jury trial, loss rule against double jeopardy, immigration. All controlled by Brussels.

75% of our new laws (and rising) come from Brussels and the Tories cannot or will not resist any of those laws.

If the Tories have a vision, they cannot implement it.

It's about time we all believed what we are hearing.

  • The EU project is about a United States of Europe. EU politicians say so.
  • The Tory party will not take us out of the EU. The Tory top brass say so. Watch William Hague "Thinking" on www.ukip.tv.

William Hague interviewed by Andrew Neil in October 2007 --- viewable on www.ukip.tv.

Andrew Neil

"If Gordon Brown succumbed to Ming Campbell's idea of a referendum not on the treaty but whether we should stay in or get out, how would you vote?".

William Hague

"Oh I'd vote to stay in. We should be in the European Union but trying to make the European Union a force for good in the world --- trying to make the single market --- the common market ..... which is what we joined "

Andrew Neil

"Even if this new treaty was now part of the law, you would still vote to stay in?"

William Hague

"We would even then would vote to stay in. We have got to make a success of the EU".

I recently attended a Tory meeting in Chertsey attended by a Tory MEP Richard Ashworth and a Tory ex-MEP. I was shocked. These Tory MEPs really do support the EU project. So does nearly every other top person in the Tory party. We had better believe it. The Tory party is NOT the solution.

UKIP's plans

UKIP is energetic. UKIP is improving its campaigning techniques. UKIP policies resonate on the doorsteps. But UKIP needs more visits to more doorsteps. For this reason it is essential that we get a full slate of local candidates

We need you to volunteer. If not you, then maybe you know of someone.

We have candidates in Runnymede but we cannot simply transfer candidates from Runnymede to Weybridge --- because, by law, to be a candidate in Weybridge, one must live or work in Elmbridge. Hence this campaign.

Have I made myself clear?

Yours sincerely,

Toby Micklethwait
